Dallas Cowboys: Gone to the dogs and in the toilet!

Volume I #6 November 2000

The Official Website and Newsletter of the Dallas Cowboy Kicker Club

Sing with us now: Oops! They did it again. They played with the ball and lost it again. The Cowboys lose in overtime to The Eagles, 16-13.

Where shall we begin? O.k. Lets start at the top. Troy
"Acheman" was hurt with a bad back, so Randall Cunningham took the reigns of the Titanic this week. As to why Troy wasn't there cheering on his teammates is another
issue. Could it be that he knew they were going to lose? Or was he too embarrassed to be seen or associated with the team? We may never know, but, ah we digress... Cunningham played his first game in Philly since his 11-year career with the Eagles ended in 1995. At the Vet, some cheered and
others booed the return of Cunningham.

The first half of the game was a dozy. The Eagles missed a field goal in the first quarter, which left the score 0-0. By this time we thought this game was gonna be a snoozer. Then the action picked up the second quarter. Emmit Smith ran for a 7 yard TD. Oh no! Then an interception was thrown by McNabb, uh oh....7-0 by half time.

The Third quarter started and it was all Cowbells. Eagles defense missed numerous tackles, over and over again. Smith again runs for 31-yards to the Dallas 46. A field goal was kicked by Seder making it 10-0. Hope was just
about lost until...

McNabb 10-yard pass to Martin down to the Philly 30. Oh and penalties racked up by the Dallas Crockboys. 15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct on the Cowpokes. 5-yard holding penalty. The eagles shimmed to a come back. The score is now 10-10. The Cowboys came back and score a field goal which could have been a touchdown. Whose to blame? We don't know. They clearly could have just thrown for the endzone and not try to run Emmitt, but that's just another example as to where this team is headed. The time left on the clock gives the Eagles a opportunity to get it down field making it 13-13 at the end of the fourth.

The coin toss was won by the Eagles so Dallas didn't stand a chance, or did they??? In OT the Eagles almost blew it. An interception put the ball back in Cowboys hands. Yet, they could not do a damn thang with it! Philly got
the ball back and hammered there way to a game winning field goal. Cunningham was 14-22 for 109 yards, 1 interception and 0 TDs. McNabb was 23-41 for 228 yards 3 interceptions and 1 TD. Emmit Smith was 26-134 with
one TD. Philly's back up running back Autry was a horrible 19-65.

Summary: Once again Dallas Proved that they can choke when the going gets tough. The lead was not kept nor expanded on during this game. The defense couldn't cover a table if they were laying on it. Troy or Randall? Who
cares!!! Both QB's proved that no matter how much you
throw or run the Dallas Cowboys still suck! This year they might go 5-12, we are emphasizing might! No one is blaming the coach and we don't understand why. Chan Gailey and Barry Switzer were blamed when the Cowboys failed, why not Campo?
This is the same offense that got Gailey fired in the first place. Or how about Jerry Jones? This tyrant has driven the Cowboys into the ground. Not that we are complaining. What is the future of this team? Most of the salary cap money is tied up into over the hill players. It seems as if the Cowboys have painted themselves into a corner. Speaking of over the hill players. Has anyone seen Leon Lett? Oh yeah, right he's still on the
team...doing nothing!!! The laughability factor of this team is about a 8. The future does not look bright. You Cryboy fans laugh at Cleveland and the Chargers, but in 2 more years this team might be starting a season with 0-9.

Also, we have a beef with the whole NFL. This is the decade of the conservative coaches. Teams are cranking out boring, safe, and low scoring games. What happened to the pizzazz of football? The may rules have something to do with it. There is so much you CAN'T do in the NFL it makes
us sick. Tony Brackens gets fined for his hit to Troy. What?!?!? That's silly. Terrell Owens got fined for his star-stomp at Texas Stadium. Do we see a trend? So many scoff at the XFL, but hasn't the NFL gotten a little
dull? We long to see the glory days of professional football. Hard hits, crazy plays, and daredevil coaching. If the XFL delivers more excitement than the NFL, then the future of professional sports may change forever.

Next week the Cincinnati Bengals take a trip to Texas Stadium. In the past the game might have been seen as a obvious win for Dallas, but nay nay. We will sit back and watch what happens next Sunday. Will the Cowboy's pull out a win or just another boring loss to a half-baked team. Tune in next weeks folks...
